Former Akita Co., Ltd. Building
(Shimonoseki Tour Information Center) |
 |
Built in 1915 as an office and residence for Akita Co., Ltd., a marine transport company. In those days, the seashore was very near the building so the tower on top served as a lighthouse.
The building’s exterior looks European, but inside there are Japanese rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and there is a Japanese garden and house on the roof. |
