Tsunoshima Island

Tsunoshima Island

Tsunoshima Island, with its beautiful natural environment, is located off the shore of Shimonoseki City in the northwestern direction. Tsunoshima Island Bridge which connects the island with the City, is one of the longest free-of-charge bridges in Japan. The film Yokkakan no Kiseki (four days miracle) was shot on this island, and the chapel location set still remains on Ohama Beach.

This was the first western -style lighthouse used on the Japan Sea side of Japan. The lighthouse was designed by R. H. Brunton, a British engineer, and has been used since 1876. This granite, lighthouse is the third largest lighthouse made of stone in Japan.

This forest consists of camphor trees 25 meters high and 1,000 years old. The forest is designated as a national natural treasure.

This festival is held in a hot spring district in Toyoura. Citizens and tourists enjoy watching the dancing. The Yosakoi dancing competition is also held and attracts many dancers from all over Japan.

Hotarukaido Nishinoichi

Located on the roadside, these facilities were constructed based on a traditional farm house and serve as a spot for the dissemination of information on Toyota. The facilities include stores selling local vegetables and specialties, a restaurant, spa baths, an open-air spa bath, and a sauna.
